All right, we begin with an updateon the United States and Israel's warwith Iran and its continued impact onthe global energy supply chain.

Oilprices rose this week after US PresidentDonald Trump announced there iscurrently no set deadline for ending thewar with Iran.

It comes after diplomaticefforts between the US and Iran againstalled earlier this week.

And althoughthe current ceasefire remains in place, hopes of an imminent resolution to thewider conflict have dimmed.

Both the USand Iran are continuing to v for controlover that critical straight of Hormuz.

The waterway responsible for shippingroughly 1/5if of the world's daily oilsupply.

Iran says it's received thefirst revenue from ships passing throughthe waterway despite an ongoing US navalblockade of Iranian ports.

Some analystssay that the blockade has so far onlydisrupted, not completely shut down,Iran's oil industry.

Our Brian Abel hasmore on how this fight for control ofthe strait could influence any furtherpotential peace talks.

Iran'srevolutionary guards say they've seizedtwo ships in the straight of Hermooseand moved them to Iranian waters.

WhileIran state media says a third Greekownedvessel is now disabled off Iran's coastafter reportedly being targeted by theIRGC.

The claims not independentlyverified, but the UK's maritime trafficorganization previously said twocontainer ships were hit by fire.

>> Now they are basically a bargaining chipfor the Iranians.

are coming into uhthese potential talks uh with ships intheir possession.

>> The escalations come hours after theceasefire deadline between the US andIran was set to expire.

But by Tuesdayafternoon, President Donald Trumpannounced he would extend the ceasefireat the request of Pakistan until Iransubmits a proposal and talks concludequote one way or the other callingIran's government seriously fracturedfollowing the US's targeted attacks onleadership.

The problem is is thatthrough these decapitation campaigns andthe fact that Mushaba is seriouslyinjured, there isn't a final decider.

>> Trump didn't offer a new deadline, though sources say he plans to give Irana limited time frame for a unifiedproposal.

While the ceasefire continueswith the ball now in Iran's courts and aresolution unclear,>> I think we're at a very precariousposition and it could go either wayreally.

The US says it will continue itsnaval blockade of Iranian vessels in theStraight of Hormuse.

Action that Tyrronsays must end before Iran willnegotiate.

Pop quiz hot shot.

Where'sthe vault containing seeds of tens ofthousands of Earth's crops in casesomething were to wipe out the planet'sfood supply? North Sentinel Island,India, Svalbard, Norway, Giza, Egypt, orDenver, Colorado.

Deep in an icy mountain in Spalbard isthe global sea vault with a myriad ofseeds.

If disaster strikes, natural,man-made, or something out of a sci-fimovie, those seeds could reboot our foodsupply.

The Arctic region around theNorth Pole is heating up about fourtimes faster than the global average.

Scientists call it Arctic amplification.

In a way, it's like the planet's AC isbreaking down while the heater keepscranking.

On Earth Day, our Bill Weirwent to Spalbard, Norway to learn moreabout melting glaciers, shrinking seaice, and the chain reaction effect inthe Arctic Circle.

We're around 79°north in this beautiful chain of islandsof uh called Swalbard, the cold edge asit were, and it's one of the most uniqueplaces in the world.

one because it'sheating up much faster than the rest ofthe world and is giving us a glimpse atwhat climate change looks like in thenear future for the rest of the Arcticas well.

But I've been meeting withthese scientists who spend their livesup here on trying to understand thischanges of these glaciers that are goingaway.

The sea ice melting the North Polecould be ice free within 25 years or so.

And one in particular, Ha Admonson, aNorwegian glaciologist, was really frustrated by what's going onand really hoping people this Earth Daylook at the signs and take notice.

Here's a little sample with her.

>> This is all connected, right? TheCalifornia is connected to the Arcticand it's connected by the oceans andwhat happens in the oceans, it what iswhat drives climate change up here andwhat happens up here impacts the rest ofthe world.

It's like we need to wake upglobally and understand that this isthis is not something that just impactsthe Arctic.

It impacts everybody.

If youthink oil and gas is expensive now, waituntil the Arctic melts.

>> Right now it's really tense and Norway, which is generally being wide open totheir neighbors, starting to tighten up.

You see their military ships aroundmore.

They're trying to exert theirsovereignty, taking the votes away fromother foreign residents right now.

So,the Arctic a hot spot in more ways thanone.
